Muttahida Qaumi Movement's chief Altaf Hussain has suspended the London-based Coordination Committee of his party. According to a statement issued from media cell of the MQM on Friday, party leadership appointed Manzoor Ahmed, London-based MQM leader, for communication and interaction on behalf of the London office of the MQM.

"London secretariat's Rabita Committee has been suspended with immediate effect, workers and office bearers are informed to contact Manzoor Ahmed instead of Nadeem Nusrat or members of the Rabita Committee," said the statement. Timing of the suspension of key body of Altaf-led MQM is significant because the party is set to get its nominee elected as mayor of Karachi after trouncing the rival parties in recently held local councils' elections in Karachi.
